MUN Conference
29 pupils from Year 10 and Year 12 attended the ASMMUN Conference in Milan in November.
Student testimonials:
"Setting off for the conference, I was very excited and confident about my abilities to represent South Africa in the SOCHUM Committee. I loved discussing various topics, such as how we could protect cultural heritage and how we could implement and set boundaries on AI art. I really liked the way the trip was organised, how some days we had free time to go around and visit Milan all together, and if anyone was tired we could just go to our hotel and rest. Overall, I was very pleased with the way I represented my country, being able to get 23/24 votes on the clause I presented."
"When we arrived at the school, we had the opportunity to meet students from all the different schools in the cafeteria, along with the people in our committee. I had a lot of fun representing Syria in the DISEC committee, it was a great challenge but I managed to push my limits and make improvements. Our topics talked about the proliferation and distribution of bio-weapons, and the illicit flow of weapons to non-state actors. The trip was organised amazingly, offering a perfect balance between debate, time with friends, and time to visit the city by ourselves. At the end of the day everybody was obviously tired and the hotel rooms gave us a nice place to relax and sleep. I look forward to going to ASMMUN next year!"
"When we arrived at the ASMMUN conference I was both nervous and excited as it was my first time doing an MUN conference. I was very happy to represent Sweden in the Council of Europe committee. Although it was my first conference I challenged myself to contribute to the debate as much as possible. Council of Europe was the only committee to have covered three topics, all of which were equally interesting. Apart from the MUN conference we were also given some free time to explore the beautiful city of Milan. We visited famous landmarks such as the Duomo and a nice area called Brera. Overall I thought that this was a very good trip and I am very much looking forward to any future MUN conferences."
