Key Stage 4 (IGCSE)
Key Stage 4: IGCSE - Year 10 and 11
Key Stage 4 is a very important time for our pupils, as they make their transition into studies that culminate in the IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11.
Throughout Year 10 and Year 11, pupils normally follow ten separate subjects, each of which culminates in the award of an IGCSE examination grade.
Core subjects include Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and a foreign language.
A wide range of optional subjects are available and may include Geography, History, Italian, Chinese, French, German, Latin, Spanish, Art & Design, Design Technology, Physical Education, Music, Drama and Computer Science.
Our programme of Reports and Parent-Teacher Evenings, combined with individual guidance for pupils, is designed to ensure that families are fully informed of the issues involved in choosing IGCSE courses.
Although challenging, Key Stage 4 is also a period of enhanced growth and academic freedom, where pupils are encouraged to explore their interests in depth. The IGCSE programme also serves as preparation for pupils progressing on to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
