The History Of Our School

St George's was founded in 1958 and was originally named the English School and began with a focus on educating children from British families living in Rome though the student body quickly grew to become very international with many families working for the United Nations sending their children to the school. In 1960 the school moved to the current campus at La Storta and changed its name to St George's which was named after the mural of St George and the Dragon located at the schools original building in Via Salaria.

The school continues to offer a British education in an international model as the key aim of the school is to welcome pupils from around the world when families move and with the high number of British International Schools worldwide this allows for seamless transition into and out of St George's when families move to Rome and beyond. This aim of welcoming international families into the highest quality learning environment meets our founding values of Internationalism, Inclusivity and Excellence.
