Welcoming Mr David Tongue

St George’s British International School is delighted to welcome Mr David Tongue and his family to the community. Mr Tongue formally commenced his role as Principal on 3 January 2019. He becomes the 11th Principal in the school’s 60 year history.

Parents are invited to meet Mr Tongue and to learn more about his background, educational philosophy and vision by attending introductory presentation mornings at either of the following times and locations:

About the Principal 

Mr Tongue joins St George’s from Brighton College Bangkok. Brighton College is the highest achieving co-educational school in the UK, with a global reputation for academic excellence and innovation. He was responsible for the leadership of the start-up, growth and development of two international campuses of Brighton College, in the UAE and Thailand. Both schools have benefited from exceptional teaching staff, rapid growth in pupil numbers and strong academic and inspection results.

Prior to joining the Brighton College group, Mr Tongue was Head of the Falkland Islands Community School and Director of Education for the Falkland Islands Government, and Head of Department and Curriculum Director at Runnymede College for 7 years in Madrid, Spain. He began his career in the UK in 1999 as a Teacher of Geography at Kingsfield School, before joining North Kesteven School as Head of Geography in 2001. He holds a BSc (Hons) Geography from Loughborough University, an MSc Educational Leadership from the University of Leicester and a PGCE from the University of Bath.
