St George’s British International School Rome has been accredited to deliver the University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, one of the world’s most respected pre-degree creative qualifications.
This accreditation positions St George’s as the first UAL Foundation Diploma centre in Europe outside the United Kingdom, joining a highly selective group of international providers in New York, Singapore and Seoul. UAL is globally recognised for excellence in creative education and includes renowned institutions such as Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts and Camberwell College of Arts.
Launching in September 2026, the one-year, full-time programme offers aspiring artists and designers a distinctive bridge year into specialist university study. Students will follow a world-leading curriculum accredited by University of the Arts London, while benefiting from the unique cultural, artistic and architectural context of Rome.
The programme is designed for students aged 17+ and provides an immersive, studio-based learning experience. Through a structured progression of exploration, specialisation and consolidation, students develop creative independence, refine their chosen discipline, and produce a professional portfolio suitable for application to leading art, design and architecture degrees worldwide.
Academically, the qualification carries significant weight. A high-end pass on the UAL Foundation Diploma is equivalent to a full IB Diploma pass in UCAS tariff points, underlining its status as both a rigorous and internationally recognised pathway.
Applications are now open for September 2026 entry, with places offered following portfolio review and interview. Further information, including entry requirements, portfolio guidance and application procedures, is available from St George’s British International School Rome.
