New School Year Gets Underway

The 2019-20 school year is underway, and we extend a warm welcome back to all returning pupils and families. We also extend a very warm welcome to all of our new pupils and families, at the beginning of what promises to be a very exciting new school year.

Over 150 pupils are new to St George’s this September, from the Red Dragons classes at our La Storta and City Centre campuses who are beginning their educational journeys, through to the 20 new pupils who have joined Year 12 and are commencing the IB Diploma Programme.

Our new pupils have arrived from every continent – with the exception of Antarctica – and come from 35 countries, bringing the total number of nationalities across our student body to 87. In the Senior School alone, our new pupils speak 25 different languages: English, Dutch, German, Turkish, Italian, French, Amheric, Romanian, Russian, Mandarin, Arabic, Ukrainian, Sihalese, Belarusian, Swedish, Cantonese, Spanish, Bengali, Hungarian, Portuguese, Swahili, Luo, Latin, Hindi and Finnish. They have relocated from destinations as diverse as The Philippines, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Qatar, Myanmar, Austria, Guernsey, Latvia and Sri Lanka.

When joining the school, our new pupils cited many diverse interests on their application forms, which they will undoubtedly continue to explore during their time at St George’s. Some of these passions include: Dance, Drums, Painting, Gymnastics, Singing, Reading, Cooking, Flute, Coding, Tennis, Chess, Modelling, Film, Ice Skating, Robotics, Skiing, Politics, Cycling, Ballet, Golf, Debating, Volunteer Work, Boxing, Violin, Rock Climbing, Hockey, Netball, Scuba Diving, Computing, Piano, Astrophysics, Rugby, Acting, Fishing, Astronomy, Weightlifting, Baseball, Cheerleading, Law, Archery, Travelling and Meeting New People.
