Appointment of Head of La Storta Junior School

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Emma Navin as the Head of La Storta Junior School effective September 2022.

Originally from the UK and raised in Botswana, Pakistan and Hong Kong, Emma attended international schools throughout her childhood. She will be joining St George’s from North London Collegiate Dubai, where she has held the role of Head of Junior School since 2017. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she has taught across the primary age range and has experience of teaching and leading the English National Curriculum and the IB Primary Years Programme.

Prior to her current role, Emma has worked as a Senior Advisor to the Supreme Education Council of Qatar, has been the Founding Principal of a kindergarten for the English Schools Foundation in Hong Kong, followed by Vice Principal and Inclusion lead at a large Primary School, and has held a number of other roles in both teaching and leadership in the UK and internationally since securing her first Headship in Surrey in 2000.

During her time in Hong Kong, Emma studied for her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She has a special interest in Social and Emotional Education and Inclusive Practices. She holds teaching qualifications and a BEd (Hons) in Primary Education from Middlesex University.

A message from Emma to the St George’s community:

“I am delighted to be appointed as the Head of the Junior School at the La Storta campus and am thrilled to be joining the school community at the start of the next academic year. St George’s is a world-class school and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to lead the Junior School in its next stage of development. The values of the school and commitment to provide an ambitious education whilst caring individually, acknowledging pupils for who they are and supporting them to be the best they can be resonates strongly with my own pedagogy.”

“I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone over the coming months and to many happy, successful years at St George’s working in partnership with you, as parents, and with all staff to provide an all-round quality education for your child.”

Emma will succeed Christine Williams, who retires at the end of the current academic year. Emma will be working with the Principal and wider leadership team at St George’s as she transitions into her role in the summer.
