Overview

Thank you for your interest in applying for admission to St George’s. The information in this section is designed to help you prepare and submit your application.

We appreciate that families relocate throughout the year, often at short notice, and therefore we are pleased to accept applications year-round. We always recommend that applications are submitted as early as possible, and they are processed on a rolling-basis as soon as they are received.

St George’s is normally at, or close to, full capacity in the majority of year groups. However, we always endeavor to accommodate applicants where space is available. In instances where a particular year group is full, candidates will be added to the waiting list and will be updated periodically thereafter. Prospective parents are welcome to contact the admissions team in advance of submitting an application in order to check on availability. Due to the internationally-mobile nature of our school community, new places do become available regularly.

St George’s is not an academically selective school. Nonetheless, it offers a challenging and ambitious curriculum and its exam results are on par with leading international schools across Europe. Priority is given to international families, who are relocating from outside of Italy and outside of Rome. Before an offer of a place can be made, St George’s will review the pupil’s application form and most recent school reports.

Pupils are normally invited to attend an informal interview. In the case of those who live abroad it is not always feasible to have an interview with the Principal or Heads of either the Senior or Junior School. Therefore, school reports are extremely important, as is the Entrance Assessment.

Pupils applying for admission to Year 4 and above are invited to sit an assessment in order for the Principal and admissions team to gain obtain a better understanding of the pupil’s current level, and to ensure that they are given the appropriate support when they join the school. The assessment can be taken at the child's present school if they are willing to invigilate on our behalf. The assessment takes a maximum of two hours to complete in full.

Instructions on how to apply can be found on the Apply Now page. For support with preparing an application, or to organise a visit to the school, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions team.
