Applying to St George's

Thank you for your interest in St George’s. This page explains how to prepare and submit your application.

Our main Admissions Cycle runs from October to March with early and late applications being accepted. We understand that families often relocate at different times of the year, sometimes at short notice. For this reason, we accept applications year-round and process them on a rolling basis. As places are limited, we encourage families to apply as early as possible.

Availability

Most year groups at St George’s are at or near full capacity. Where space is available, we do our best to accommodate new students. If a year group is full, applicants are placed on a waiting pool and updated periodically. Because our community is highly international and mobile, new places do become available throughout the year. You are very welcome to contact our Admissions team before submitting an application to check current availability.

Admissions Criteria

St George’s is not academically selective, but we offer a rigorous and ambitious curriculum, with results comparable to leading international schools across Europe. Priority is given to international families relocating from outside Rome or Italy. Before a place can be offered, we review each student’s application form and most recent school reports.

Interviews and Assessments

Most applicants are invited to attend an informal interview. For families based overseas, this will take place online. Students applying for Year 4 and above are asked to complete the CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) assessment as part of the admissions process. This is not an indication of acceptance, but rather helps our teaching staff understand the student’s current level and learning profile so that we can provide appropriate support if a place is offered.

The assessment can be completed at the student’s current school (if they are able to invigilate on our behalf) and takes up to two hours in total. More information can be found on the CAT4 page of the GL Assessment website. Students applying to the Senior School, who are not English mother tongue, will also be required to complete a short written task in English.
