Cookies Policy

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files sent from the site to the User's computer (normally to the browser) where they are stored so they can be re-transmitted to the site when the same User visits the site again. A cookie cannot collect any other information from the User’s fixed disc nor can it transmit viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to the User’s web browser. Some of the cookies’ functions may be transferred to other technologies. In this document the term ‘cookie’ refers both to cookies themselves as well as to all similar technologies.

With cookies it is possible to record information regarding preferences, from the pages surfed or the file downloads from our site or other similar actions undertaken by surfing our site.

First-Party or Third Party Cookies

Cookies may be first-party or third-party. “First-party” cookies refer to the cookies developed by the Data Controller of the actual site and “third-party” cookies refer to those cookies developed by third parties with regard to the Data Controller of the site.

Types of Cookies

Depending on the usage, there are several types:

Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used exclusively with a view to "carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service that has been explicitly requested by the contracting party or user to provide the said service." (see Section 122(1) of the Code).Cookies are not used for other purposes and they are normally installed directly by the Data Controller or the Data Processor of the website. They may be subdivided in:

  • navigation or session cookies that guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (enabling us, for example, to make a purchase or log in to reserved areas); they are, as a matter of fact, necessary for the site to function properly
  • cookie analytics, assimilated to technical cookies when they are used directly by the site’s Data Processor in order to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of Users and about how the Users visit the site, so the site’s performance may be improved
  • functional cookies enable the User to surf according to a set of selected criteria (for example, language, products chosen for purchase) so that the service rendered may be improved. For the installation of these cookies no prior consent from the User is required (more information in the paragraph Management of Cookies, below)

Profiling Cookies
Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles that regard the User and they are used in order to send advertising messages according to the preferences shown by the User when surfing on the internet.

Consent from the Data Subject is required when using profile cookies. According to Provision no. 229 of May 8th 2014, the User must be able to authorise or refuse consent for the installation of profile cookies whenever they may be present.

In the case of third-party cookies, the site has no direct control over the single cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor cancel them). It may however manage these cookies through the browser settings (please see the instructions reported later), or the sites indicated in the “Management of Cookies” section.

The User is therefore invited to check on the site the following third-party or parties.
