2014 Year 9 visit Airforce Museum

Year Nine spent a busy day investigating the historic aircraft collection at Vigna di Valle on Thursday. Their current Art project focuses on the Futurist movement and its fascination with speed, energy and dynamic movement. Consequently, their many drawings and photographs from the trip are proving invaluable as they develop Futurist artworks of their own.

The students also studied the aircraft and other artefacts from a historical context, including focusing on ideas such as propaganda. One of our guides was the father of an ex-St George’s student, who had flown one of the aircraft in the museum’s collection at over twice the speed of sound during his days in the Italian Airforce.
