2013 Y13 students meet Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy

Some very fortunate students met and listened to the Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom, the first female Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, during her recent visit to Keats-Shelley House on the publication of her Love Poetry in Italian: truly bilingual enrichment. Appropriately enough, it was Valentine's Day and "Valentine" was one of her readings as well as our favourite, "Anne Hathaway". Ms Duffy so enjoyed meeting the Language and Literature students, particularly when Abigail Sumption presented the poet with a copy of "Mrs Zuckerberg", Abi's laudable attempt to write in the style of her dramatic monologues in "The World's Wife." Best of all, when asked by Mrs Radford if she would return to Rome and visit St George's, Ms Duffy replied that she would be delighted to do so.
