We aim to attract talented staff. First and foremost is the enthusiasm
for what you teach, but we also look for people who will enrich the
life of the pupils of
the school. Sport, Music and Drama are the obvious areas but we aspire
to a truly broad and interesting life for pupils and staff. We've got
film directors, jugglers, bridge players enthusing our pupils now.
But it isn't all about the pupils, it is important to understand that a good International School is a community and we want the teachers to enjoy and fulfill themselves. Our Head of Science, for example, sings not only with our choir but also with a top-flight choir in Rome. We find that what she brings to the School enhances not only the music, but the whole community. We have several teachers in both the Choir and the Orchestra. A Senior School Geography teacher was classically trained by the Royal Academy and helps with the individual voice training of the pupils. He also, will be there on big tours and the major concerts with them. Perhaps most importantly (well, probably not actually) he is the lead singer with the staff rock band "Transmission" which plays, along with ten student bands, in the annual Battle of the Bands festival at School.
We
also play regular staff football - every friday evening - followed,
for some, by close analysis of the game in the bar afterwards. We have
a pub quiz team and many social outings, including a curry club, in
the beautiful evenings in Rome.
The staff below are not music teachers... they are teachers of Science, Italian, Maths, or Junior School teachers. Here are four of them...
