The Senior School is split into three phases:
Now widely regarded as the leading school leaving qualification and recognised by the best universities across the world, The IB Diploma Programme has been in place at St George’s for the past 10 years. The Diploma combines rigorous academic standards with intellectual breadth to develop young people who are literate, numerate, aware of their world socially and scientifically and able to communicate their experiences in at least two languages. Additional components in research, critical thought and community service complete the education of very well-rounded individuals equipped for life in the 21st Century. UCAS (the official UK University admissions office) says that four and a half A grades at A level are equivalent to 35 points in the IB. Our whole school average in 2010 was 34 points. Visit the IB page for more details.
Years 10 and 11 (ages 14-16) take ten GCSEs from a large range of subjects. This is the standard for UK independent schools, with the slight difference that we take mostly International GCSEs rather than UK ones. They count the same in all regards. In 2006 at St. George's, 53% of all grades were A or A*. Visit the GCSE page for more details.
Although Years 7, 8 and 9 (ages 11-14) prepare for this standard UK assessment, it is only a part of what we do. Our curriculum is greatly enhanced. For example, we run special off-timetable days - SPY DAY was the latest in which the pupils dress up as spies and learn the tricks of the trade. Our assessment at the end of the summer term is not simply a test, but a major project in every subject, a mixture or cross-curricular and subject-specific. KS3 tests are now on the way out, quite rightly, but you can look at our results from last summer which were truly outstanding.
Art is very strong and important at St. George's. It is led by Mr Morgan.
Design & Technology
We have the leading Design & Technology department in Italy. It is a thriving centre of innovation led by the brilliant Ms Wrycroft.
Music

We are very proud of our music at St. George's
School. We tour Europe and the World.
Drama

The latest production in November 2006 was an outdoor roaming version
of Homer's Odyssey. The audience needed a typical Roman tour guide to
move them round parts of the school.
