Mr. Michael Barber B Ed (Hons) FRGS

Michael was appointed to St. George’s Nomentana (SGN) Junior School in 2005. Michael is a geographer by training and inclination. He was born in Uganda and lived in Australia and Zimbabwe as a boy. He started his teaching career in Bristol before moving to South East England. He lives in the city with his wife, who teaches at St George's Senior School, and 3 daughters, who all attend St George's.

He says "Prior to this post I was the Headteacher of a Preparatory School in the south of England. Working at SGN has given me the challenge of using my experience working in UK Independent schools but tailoring this for children from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. This combination makes it a rich working environment.

Rome has proved to be a positive professional and personal experience. It is a vibrant city to live and work in with a wealth of cultural and sporting activities for me – not forgetting the food of course!"
