October 2015 International Schools Student Art Collaboration Project

The Art Department of St George's has recently hosted a three-day collaborative project with visiting students from the United World College in Maastricht and the International School of Paris. On Thursday the 15th of October visiting students took part in a range of our IB lessons. They then spent the afternoon working with junior school students on a series of books and artworks exploring the similarities and differences between our various cities.

On the second day of the project, students from all three schools produced a range of colleges and drawings exploring concepts of cultural convergence. These studies were subsequently enlarged into a mural for the walls of Jane D'Amico's office. Consequently these works will be amongst the first things that prospective parents and students see when they come to visit our school.

On Saturday a group of St George's visual artists and staff met up with the visiting group for a private viewing of the 'Outdoor Festival' in Rome. We were guided by Domitilla and Alice from Drago Labs. They are amongst the world's foremost publishers of books on street art and underground culture. We plan to continue this ongoing collaborative project with furtherexchanges and visits to Maastrict and Paris in 2016.
