Achievements

At St George's we actively promote and encourage pupils to take part in international and local competitions, conferences and extra-curricular examinations where appropriate.  We regularly report pupil success on our school intranet.

Fantastic achievements of St George's students:

  • JCUMUN Conference 2017: Over the weekend of January 27th and 28th January, 19 delegates from St. George's attended the annual John Cabot MUN Conference in Rome.   • ARTiculation Prize Italia competition 2016: Year 11 pupil wins the ARTiculation Prize Italia competition organised by the British Council.
  • JCUMUN Conference 2016: 13 students form Y10 - 12 participated in a MUN Conference hosted by the students of John Cabot University, Rome.We were proud to receive the award of Best Delegate of the Conference - well done to Guia Cordero di Montezemolo. A major achievement indeed as Guia was one of the youngest delegates participating. We were also awarded four Honourable Mentions. These went to; Nicole Trofimov, Pauls Bertulis, Gea Donadoni and Yizhou Tian.
  • Vivi Vejo competition 2016: Congratulations to our talented artists who have scooped many of the top prizes in this year's Vivi Vejo competition.
  • Students recently been awarded certificates by EDEXCEL/Pearson Education recognising that they achieved the ‘Highest Grade in the World’.
  • Maths Challenge 2015: 3 gold awards, 10 silver, 17 bronze.
  • Five student paintings, three student videos and a live performance (opening ceremony) featured at the IB Africa, Europe & Middle East Conference 2014-2015
  • Two student have sung the solo part to "When you believe" from Disney's "Prince of Egypt" in concerts with the Grande Coro of Rome 2014-2015. Emily has also sung "Tomorrow" (just her and piano) several times, same concerts. Alyssa Carvalho participated (sang "Believe" solo part) at a masterclass for the choir.
  • Best Delegation award at Milan Model United Nations 2012. Our MUN Student President chaired the Paris MUN 2014. Three Best Delegates awards and three Honorable Mentions at John Cabot University MUN and at Torino MUN 2015.
  • A delegation of Y9s and 10s were sent to Oxford University in May 2012, to represent the school in the Oxford World Youth Debate
  • First prize for Senior Art in the International Baccalaureate Organization’s global Art competition
  • IB student's painting featured in the Sunday Telegraph in September
  • Two winners in the UN FAO World Food Day Poster Competition in October 2014
  • First prizes in Vivi Vejo Art Competition (Rome) 2013. First Prize and two Honorable Mentions 2015
  • Vivo Vejo Onlus Prose Writing Comp winners 2011 &  2012.
  • SGBIS artwork featured on Saatchi Gallery website, in the IBO’s gallery of the best student artworks worldwide, as well as used for training new IB art teachers 2013. Fourteen students’ artwork selected for Saatchi Online Gallery 2014-2015
  • UK Design Museum’s Student Designer Competition runners up 2010 and 2011. Thomas Holderness – won 14-16 category for designing a public exhibition space and Anna Chiara Ghini – Nominated for 14-16 category at Design Museum London awards 2015 for designing a public exhibition space.
  • COBIS Poetry Prize (Senior Section) winners – 2010 & 2011. Three students and their artwork featured in opening video for COBIS 2015 Conference and on COBIS website
  • Keats-Shelley Poetry Competition winners 2009-2011. One winner 2015
  • Finalists for FOOD4U European video festival 2011
  • A team of Y7s and 8s came second in the PRIME maths competition in 2011
  • ABRSM Music exams 2012: 35 entrants from all 3 schools; 14 were awarded Merit and 7 received marks of Distinction – in particular, an IGCSE student who received 146/150 on Grade 8 Violin, the highest level; an SGLS pupil who received Distinction on Grade 2 Cello and Grade 2 Singing; and an SGN pupil who received Distinction on Grade 5 Violin
  • Some of our students' recent sporting achievements include Formula Renault 3.5 Series racing, Italian national representation in equestrian pursuits, Italian national swimming and life saving competitions, regional representation in fencing, golfing from scratch, Black Belt karate and recent representation in the Italian Sailing Championships (Laser class).
