The Library

What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels about education.
Harold Howe

The school library at La Storta serves all students; from the Red Dragons right through to Year 13.The aim of the library is to offer a welcoming environment that supports student learning and development.

Each student will encounter the library in a variety of different ways. The large collection of fiction and non-fiction is designed to cater to the needs of all departments within the school.Students are encouraged to visit the library for help with project work, essay work and general advice on research. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to read for pleasure.Reading for pleasure has been shown to improve overall levels of literacy and assist in academic attainment.

Ms Forde, the school librarian, has been delivering research skills classes on a number of topics.  Students will also be offered classes on referencing, plagiarism and study skills.

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
Jorge Luis Borges

Students are encouraged to approach Ms Forde at any time to discuss books and reading or ask for advice on academic work.

The library is continually developing to reflect the diverse, and changing, needs of our students.
