VICE PRINCIPAL & Head of ST GEORGE'S Senior School

St George's Vice Principal and Head of Senior School is Adam Oliver, who joined us in September 2011.

Mr Oliver studied English Language and Literature at the University of St Andrews, then took his PGCE at Oxford. His early teaching career included stints leading outdoor education and running a large sixth form. He joined us from Chosen Hill School, where he was part of the leadership team for five years, helping lead the school to its first ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement. His background has covered pastoral, curricular and extra-curricular leadership and his recent work has included leadership development and increasing the delivery of outstanding lessons. He took his NPQH - the National Professional Qualification for Headship - through London University's Institute of Education, and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing through Cambridge University. He has been Vice President of AIBWSI, the Association of International Baccalaureate World Schools in Italy, for the last three years, and is currently the Chair of RISA, the Rome International Schools Association.

His interests include literature, creative writing, travel, nature, art and history. A keen sportsman, he has bicycled across America and from London to Istanbul. He holds a brown belt in Shotokan Karate but rest assured that it is his qualification in yoga he turns to when school is stressful!

It is an ongoing pleasure to be a part of the thriving and vibrant learning community of St George’s. I extend a warm welcome to new and returning parents and students. This is a superb time to be with us, as we bring in record examination and inspection results, and continue our ambitious drive to being a truly world-class school.
