The British International School of Rome is an independent, not-for-profit HMC school situated on the outskirts of the city on a spacious site in La Storta. We were founded in 1958 and cater for boys and girls from the age of 3 to 18.
All students take (I)GCSE examinations at age 16 and the International Baccalaureate in their final year. Lower down the school, pupils take the standard UK SAT assessments, called Key Stage 2. Click here to view our most recent results in all these assessments.
Message from the Principal, Mr Martyn Hales Thank you for visiting our website. It has been designed to give those who do not know St. George's a feel for our School and so please browse around as much as you like. Our Intranet is aimed at current pupils and parents and contains vastly more information. No website can ever truly represent a school, the best way to get to know us is to visit. I write a newsletter regularly to the parents. We value our pupils' privacy so I can only show you an older one, here.
If you would like to visit the school please contact us. In the top left you will see our admission pages with detailed information. Please remember that there is a waiting list for most if not all year groups, so register your interest as soon as you can.
The aim of the school is to fulfil the potential of each individual child and to do so in a
safe and caring environment that aims at the highest international standards. The school
draws on the inherited educational expertise of the National Curriculum in Britain and
shares the aims of the International Baccalaureate Organisation:
‘to develop the individual talents of young people and teach them to relate the
experience of the classroom to the realities of the world outside. Beyond
intellectual rigour and high academic standards, strong emphasis is placed on the
ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship, to the end that… pupils may become critical and compassionate thinkers, lifelong learners and
informed participants in local and world affairs, conscious of the shared
humanity that binds all people together while respecting the variety of cultures
and attitudes that makes for the richness of life.’ (IBO Council of Foundation,
1996)

St. George's was founded over 50 years ago and has grown ever since. It is now bigger than ever and, indeed, has reached capacity. It is our intention at the school to create a caring environment and so the present size (440 pupils in the Senior School) is the maximum we believe is possible to still be able to create a friendly, fun, safe and challenging environment.
